Fossil fuels helped the USA go from an almost stone age economy to what we have today. Oil helped the USA fight two World Wars, and several other wars. What we could not have done with the alternate energy technology that we had at the time. Now major advancements in technology is giving us the opportunity to create a whole different environment then what we have had for the past several decades. An opportunity that we must not pass up. We are getting a sizable amount of our current oil from nations that do not like nor respect the USA, therefore we must have the Manhattan or Moon Landing push to get alternative energy sources that will move us to the future as a stronger and better country. I personally feel that hydrogen is one of the primary future energy sources since we have oceans, lakes & rivers full of it. Enough to last for thousands of years. In the mean time there will be bridges to that future in the form of BioFuels, National Gas, Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Extended-Range Electric Vehicles and Electric Vehicles. The oil cartel (Robber Barons) want to reduce the USA to a third world country status. Perhaps it is time to send them back to their tents & camels or shanties & donkeys.
